Decisions, Decisions: Is the 2019 F-150 or the 2019 F-250 Right For You?

When people think of the Ford lineup, the 2019 Ford F-150 quickly comes to mind. This legendary pickup has been winning hearts (and awards) for decades. However, it's not a bad idea to check out the "entry-level" truck to the Ford Super Duty lineup: the 2019 Ford F-250.

Today at Roush Ford, located in Columbus, OH, we'll see how the two compare in performance and amenities and help you decide which truck will best suit your needs. We also touch on the few changes for the 2019 model year!

The Ford F-150 has five engines in its lineup, and the one you get depends on the trim and the cab style.

Starting the Spring of 2019, Ford released the all-new 3.0L Power Stroke V6 turbo diesel engine, much to the delight of diesel fans. This engine has 250 horsepower, but you'll be blown away by the 440 lb-ft torque that makes easy work of towing heavy equipment. You can bring along up to 11,300 pounds, and the payload ratings top out at 1,980 pounds.

Along with the turbo diesel engine, Ford designers added some new performance technology to the F-150 Raptor off-roading trim. The Raptor now has an all-new Trail Control™ system that helps you accelerate or brake and you make your way through challenging terrains. There's also updated FOX racing shocks that electronically adjust based on the demands.

Schedule a Test Drive

Whether you want the F-150 for work or play, it's clear you'll be able to find the right engine with the right specs.

For the Ford F-250 there's either a 6.2L V8 or 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel. The capacities vary slightly between the cab style (regular, super, or crew), as well as if we're looking at conventional towing or towing with the 5th wheel goose neck, and as a reminder, you won't get 5th wheel towing on the F-150.

For nitty gritty details, you can contact us about a particular model in our F-250 inventory.

A truck's primary focus is to perform, but designers still know how to have fun with the interior and make sure the driver and passengers are comfortable. Both the F-150 and F-250 come in an array of trims that range from utilitarian to nothing short of luxurious. Whether you're from Dublin or Hilliard, you'll find an option that speaks to you!

Both the F-150 and F-250 can provide shoppers with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ on the Ford SYNC®3 system, advanced safety (more on that in the next section), handsome leather seats, available Active Motion® massage on the top trims, and convenience technology that makes trailering a breeze, as well as style packages that don't skimp on the chrome. One main difference is that the automated Active Park Assist (that is extremely useful in busy areas like Grove City) is only available on the F-150.

New Co-Pilot360™ Safety

New for 2019, the Ford F-150 now has the Ford Co-Pilot360™ package, and this is Ford's new way of grouping advanced safety amenities. What you get in the Co-Pilot360™ package depends on the trim you choose, but here are all the available technologies:

  • Reverse sensing alerts
  • BLIS® with trailer coverage and cross-traffic alert
  • A 360-degree camera for easy parking
  • Active parking assist
  • Adaptive cruise control with stop/go
  • A lane-keeping system
  • Windshield wipers that'll automatically turn on when they sense rain

  • The F-250 doesn't have the Co-Pilot360™ branding yet, but you can still find many of these technologies sprinkled across the various trims.

While spec sheets are important, if you're still on the fence the best way to figure out which truck is right for you is to come in for a test drive! We'll listen to your needs and concerns, get to know your budget, and point you towards the right model and trims that'll meet your demands and desires.
